When Lily was born, her mother and father lived in a small British town near London. Her mother was a witch, interested in dragons and other magical creatures. Her father was a muggle, and never knew what his wife was. Whenever Lily made something unexplained happen, her mother made up some excuse to cover it up. When Lily was seven, her mother had a chance to go to Cuba to study dragons. She spent months preparing for her trip, only to find out that the tour had been redirected to Peru. Unprepared for the dragons there, Lily's mother died when one got lose.
Lily was still too young to know much about who she was, so life became simple. She had been going to a Muggle school, and her father was convinced his wife had died in a car accident. When Lily turned eleven, she was given a letter from Hogwarts explaining her terms and when to arrive. This surprised both her and her father, who took the information hard. His wife was a witch and she had never told him. He became ridiculously attached to his work- he was a doctor- and only provided necessary attention towards his daughter. She managed to get to Diagon Alley and get money (her mother had left quite a bit in Gringotts) and finally arrived at Hogwarts.
Her and her father have pretty much ignored each other, despite living in the same house. Lily prepares herself for Hogwarts, and dropped out of Muggle school. Her father rarely talks to her, or about her to someone else. As a result of this Lily doesn't like to talk, though she can be friendly when she chooses to be.
On a side note, many assume her past is too tragic to bear and that she should have been put up for adoption, or have committed suicide. This is opinionated; Lily is pretty satisfied with her life, though she wouldn't mind having a friend or a romantic interest. Not everything has been bad for Lily; it's all a matter of perspective. Her mother still lives on in her mind, and she is still a good person with determination and intelligence.
pride was standing at the very foot of the mountain when the wind gushed off the ridge, where the fresh grass and the morning dew meet the gray rock that's flat surface chilled overnight. the sun was just peaking the horizon, casting long shadows down the valley where he stood. the shadows did nothing to effect the immortal's coat... it was the color of shadows anyways.
the stallion twitched an ear lightly. a wind elemental could not find it easy to climb such high peaks, where the atmosphere got colder and thinner, and the air drifted towards the mountain's bottom. besides the strange tugging on his heart, pride knew somehow that his half-brother-immortal vhroi would be there, waiting for him.
without stopping to consider the possible reasons vhroi was here, pride took a few soft steps up the rock. damn it! he cursed silently. if only I had the element of earth! it would make this a lot easier! being easily frustrated, pride was put in to a bad mood by the lack of air (a necessity for a flame) and the hardiness of the climb he had to undertake.
finally, pride heard his brother's voice, faintly in the distance. ''there is someone amongst me...'' were the words that were spoken first and foremost. pride grinned at his brother's formality. they may be immortals, but he didn't have to act like a centurion.
''brother!'' called pride as he climbed the last steep slope on to the ridge where vhroi stood. ''the wind brought your message. I believe coming would do me no harm, seeing as the wind often dances with fire, no?'' pride spoke with exactly that- pride. he waited calmly for a response, or a smart comment from the youth in front of him.
