It wasn't a day like any other. No no, Draco was expected a guest. But not any guest. It was Daphne Greengrass. She was one of his best friends from Hogwarts, along with Pansy Parkinson, Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle. Daphne was a great girl, but Draco had never managed to get her in bed. Pity, because Draco would assume that she was excellent. But they had kissed a lot of times and Draco had enjoyed that everytime. They had arranged this meeting on behalf of Daphne's younger sister, Astoria who had let Daphne know that he had tried contacting her without any luck.
It was quite early a Saturday evening, but he had everything worked out. You wouldn't believe it, but Draco was an excellent cook and he had made everything pretty perfect. The whole thing about living with your very absent parents had helped him in a lot of ways. He now knew how he shouldn't raise his children and allow them to choose what side they wanted to support - of course within a range where he could control it. But if the Death Eaters started gathering members again, he wouldn't join - he was sure of it, and he wouldn't let his kids join either. Too many bad memories.
Draco had bought some butterbeers and a bottle of firewhiskey. He had no intentions whatsoever in making her drunk, he just wanted to have a good time. Besides he wasn't interested in doing anything with her, except for having a good time. Draco was wearing a green plaid shirt and some blue, worn-down jeans on. Nothing too fancy.
A smile came across his lips as he heard someone knocking on the door. It had to be Daphne, who else? He wasn't expecting anyone else. Draco walked to the door and opened it and was for a second stunned. Daphne had always been beautiful, but she had grown to become even more beautiful and that pleased him. "Miss Greengrass. A pleasure. As always." He said with a bright smile and allowed her to come on. His apartment could remind you of a small house - it was spacy and he liked it that way.

Daphne Greengrass, a girl who never said no to a party and who would rather go to a party than visiting her mother, had for once other plans than getting drunk at a Saturday night. She was invited to dinner at Draco Malfoy’s place, something she could not help but think it was a ridiculously adult-thing, going to dinner with a friend and she would probably have said no if it was anyone else. Daphne had been in France, visiting a friend who was sick, when she got a letter from Astoria telling her that Draco wanted to talk with her. Daphne would not go but her friend told her that there was no point in her staying there in France when she did not have any healer skills. Of course Daphne had to get back to her job. Besides, she was curious to see Draco acting as a mature, responsible adult, inviting her to dinner in his home and not on a fancy restaurant which would be more his style.
Daphne was living in Diagon Alley herself and to come to Hogsmeade she decided to apparate. A second later she was standing in the High Street in Hogsmeade, holding a bottle of cheap wine. She had after all been raised to have the best manners in the world and when she was about to go she remembered it was polite to bring something to the host. Instead of wasting her money on something she took the first bottle of wine she could find in her flat that had not been open yet. Draco may be a good friend but he was not so special she wanted to spend money on a better gift to him. Daphne started walking without problems even though she was wearing four inches high heels. That high was nothing compared to what she normally worn. When a couple of men looked at her, eyeing her heels and the bottle she responded when a rude gesture and a loud “Bloody freaks”. That was just normal Daphne-behaviour.
Daphne opened the door to the stairs that would lead her to Draco’s flat and walked up the stairs. She knocked three times at the door and waited. “Oh hello, Mrs. Malfoy, how very nice to see you” she said with a small smile, imitating Draco. “Lookie, lookie, I remembered to bring a hostess gift” Daphne smirked and held out the bottle. “I will advise you to mix it with fire whiskey because it tastes absolutely terrible otherwise” Daphne walked past Draco and as always she was a little surprised to this enormous flat compared to her own. There could probably be two of her flats in this.

Draco knew that Daphne Greengrass was beautiful, but it had been a while since he last had seen her. Not years, but months. Therefore he was looking forward to this particular night. And when he opened the door and greeted her, he smiled. Not a normal smile, but a smile that said indirectly; "You are hot, let's do something nice!" And he nodded. He smiled at her bringing a bottle of wine. Very considerate. "How quaint. You must have read my mind, my dear. I have a bottle of firewhiskey ready for us." He said with a smile. It wasn't something new that he called her "dear" - she should be used to it by now. They weren't an item, but Draco treated her with a lot of respect. And that nickname was meant with all the love he had inside himself.
After she had walked inside his apartment, he closed the door behind her. "Allow me to be a gentleman and take your jacket?" He said and pointed towards the table. He had spent a few hours cooking a good dinner. Of course with the help of magic, he was a pureblood wizard after all, so why not use it? But nevertheless he hoped it would be appreciated and that she liked it. Draco wasn't the best cook, but it made him relax to make food.
"Just sit down. I'll be with you in a few minutes, miss Greengrass." He said with a smile and left her and walked outside to the kitchen. It was quite big but he liked it. He did a few things, before entering the combined livingroom/diningroom where he had brought the dinner to. It was a turkey with potatoes and such. He placed it on the table and sat down. And summoned the bottle of firewhiskey. Draco opened it and made them a drink. He took a sip and smiled. Excellent. "How was France?" He asked with great interest.
Draco smiled and looked around. Everything was perfect. Not that he was going to seduce Daphne, but he liked that his apartment was clean and tidy. He smiled and cut some meat to her. It seemed very adult to sit here and eat dinner. He was only nineteen years old. At least for a couple of days more. He was looking forward to his birthday party and hoped that Daphne would join it.
