Blaine was losing his mind. That would be the simplest definition of what summertime was doing to him. He hated summertime. Okay, that was a total lie, but he did hate being so isolated. His sister was at her friend's house and had been for the past week. Her father was off playing Quidditch, and well, his mother wasn't around anymore. Sometimes Blaine found himself walking into her old study just to look at pictures of the family together. He couldn't help but cry every single time. He had been too young to understand what that man was doing there. All he remembered was seeing the bright green light and losing his mother. He remembered his little sister crying because she had no idea what had just happened, and he remembered watching her trying to wake their mother up. Alas, it had not happened.
Ever since that time, Blaine had kept his emotions to himself. Of course, he always treated people with the utmost respect and admiration (though the latter only if they deserved such admiration), but he never really gave himself to anybody. The only person besides himself, his sister, and his father that knew of the truth behind his mother's death was his best mate, Malcolm, and that was because they shared similar traits. His parents had been lost due to Death Eaters as well, and Blaine had easily told the story. Other than him, he hadn't told the story to anyone, not even the one girl who had been his best friend since first year, Astoria.
To say she was beautiful was an understatement. He thought she was the most amazingly beautiful girl in the world, and he treasured her more than any other girl besides his little sister. If someone even made her frown, he had made it his personal vendetta to get them. But he had never thought of her as more than a friend. Astoria had been the girl who reminded him that boys with manners would go further in life than those that were raised to be brutes and all around vulgar men. He refused to be like that, and any time he acted badly, Astoria had told him so. She was his best friend in the world, and he would make sure that never changed.
Though he couldn't help finding himself wondering what it would be like to kiss her. She was so, kept to herself. He had always wondered what it would be like to see her let her hair down and just relax rather than always focus on being the little priss she had learned to be. He knew the reason, though. Her mother led a school for etiquette. Naturally, the girl had been introduced to the ways of being a lady. He respected that about her, that she could keep her composure in almost any circumstance.
Speaking of Astoria, she would be here any minute. Blaine had decided to save himself from boredom and invited her over to his house to spend the day. He had a wonderful day planned for them involving lunch, a walk in the garden behind his house to talk about anything and everything like they usually did, and of course, he would show her the rooftop. The rooftop was something very few people knew of. It was a flat surface at the top of the house that was a balcony of sorts. It showed a remarkable view of their land, but an even better view of the stars at nighttime. He'd arranged for them to have dinner up there. Yes, he planned things out. He was a gentleman, after all. Only the best for his favorite lady.
He was daydreaming again when one of his house elves popped into his room and announced the arrival of Miss Greengrass. He nodded, thanked the elf, and grabbed a white rose he had personally taken out of the garden, de-thorned, and saved for her arrival. He walked down the stairs into the foyer and saw his beautiful friend. "Why Miss Greengrass, don't you look as beautiful as ever." He said, finishing his descent of the stairs and bowing slight in front of her, handing the rose. "Please accept my rose in gratitude of you accepting my invitation to spend the day here." With his free hand, he grabbed hers, lifting it and kissing the back of it. There it was, Blaine the gentleman, and the ever so romantic guy that every girl wanted, but only few would ever obtain. status; complete outfit; click here, duh!tags; dodi/astoria !notes; I'm excited (:

One of Astoria’s favorite things about summer was the sun shining on her face in the morning. Every day, promptly at eight in the morning, Mimsy and Ella came in to throw open the heavy curtains in Astoria’s room, allowing the beautiful summer sun’s warm to caress her cheeks. Accustomed to the shock of light, Astoria almost always smiled, stretched, and rose to thank her house elves for their assistance. But this was only one of the delightful things about summer—Astoria loved everything about it. Summer meant freedom; while at school she was a student with many superiors and rules, at home the youngest Greengrass was treated with respect and was allowed to do just about anything she wanted. While she was still the baby of the family, and therefore much fussed over and spoiled, her family understood her desire for independence and knew she was capable of making her own decision. Other than her classes, which she delighted in teaching, Astoria was a free woman. On top of that, the summer gave Astoria time to bond with her mother and sister; as a close knit family who relished in spending time together, they greatly enjoyed the summer months, often spending days with just each other, traveling or just relaxing. This morning in particular, Astoria was even more pleased than usual. She knew that she would able to spend most of the day with her best friend, Blaine. Blaine had everything that Astoria looked for in a companion—he was well mannered, sweet, intelligent, and just an all around great guy. He was one of the only people that she felt close enough to completely open with and he was the only person she had never flat out lied to. The romantic side of her had always felt that they would be the perfect couple—indeed, most of Slytherin was convinced that they were both lying when they insisted that they’d never dated. They had amazing chemistry, got along swimmingly, and dating him would easily secure Astoria’s status as queen of Slytherin house. Being the type of girl who cared immensely about appearances, this factor was a bit too important in Astoria’s mind. Yet, she had never made a move. Astoria was not the sort of girl to be forward; she liked to be courted and would never show interest in a boy who didn’t seem interested in her. Besides, she didn’t want to ruin their friendship by making being a tart about the whole thing. So, ever since the thought had occurred to her, Astoria had been very… careful… around Blaine. She didn’t show any signs of being more interested in friendship, and was always careful to keep her musings to herself. She knew that he thought she was a little too tight-laced—it was true after all, everyone thought that of her. Even the boys that she had attempted to date had gotten frustrated and given up on her, saying that she was sweet but needed to let loose a little. Astoria told herself that if she were with the right guy, she would be able to loosen up, and hoped that it was true. In the meantime, she was simply excited to spend the afternoon with her best friend. As usual, she taught a few classes until 11, and then she got ready to go. She didn’t know what they were going to be doing that day. It didn’t matter; they had a good time together regardless of what they were doing. Apparating to just outside of his property, Astoria hurried along the long path to the front door. Once she was outside, she pulled out a pocket mirror and did a quick makeup and hair check, out of habit. Satisfied, she rang the bell and smiled kindly at the house elf who let her in. Stepping into the foyer, she allowed the house elf to take her purse and shoes, immediately feeling shorter and defenseless seeing as she had decided to leave her wand in her purse. It wasn’t like she would need it anyways. Astoria grinned widely as Blaine came down the stairs, her heart squeezing as she saw the rose in his hand. He knew she was a sucked for a gesture such as this. Dipping into a half curtsy, Astoria blushed and mocked simpering, putting a thin hand to her heart and batting her eyelashes. ”Why, Mister Morris, you shouldn’t have…” Taking the rose from him, the teen tipped her head to the side as he kissed her hand. He knew her all too well. Astoria stepped forward and stood on tiptoe to embrace her friend in a hug. ”Enough with the flirting dearest, your spoiling is ruining me for all the other boys out there who actually might want to date me.” Letting go and looking around, she gave Blaine a sweet smile, ”So, what are we doing today? I’ve been waiting to find out all morning!word count:: 825 tags:: Amanda/Blaine :D outfit:: here!notes:: I hope this works! They are so cute, it’s killing me.

It wasn't that Blaine didn't date. It was that Blaine had never found a girl that was perfect for him. He wanted a girl who wouldn't throw herself at him. He wanted a girl with manners who would fit in when his mum's old acquaintances came over to "check on the family" Actually, they only came over to see if his father was dating again, then they would proceed to belittle him for doing that to his deceased mother. When it came down to it, women like that annoyed him. He wanted a woman who could fit in in a rich lifestyle, but not be that person all the time. He wanted a girl with manners who still had feelings. He wanted someone who didn't feel as if she were superior to everyone, but in the back of her mind, still had the feeling that she was, much like him. Blaine didn't think being rich made him a better person, it just made him a little more well-off than others.
Astoria was that girl, he knew it. Throughout the years, however, Blaine had noticed other men wanting Astoria's heart. She was the proclaimed queen of Slytherin, and he had been rightfully named as the king. It was a wonder to himself and others that the two weren't a couple. Astoria was perfect for Blaine, and Blaine was perfect for her. She was one of the few people in the world he would be willing to tell his secret of his mother's death to, he had just yet to tell her. The conversation had never come up because Astoria had been raised not to ask things like that. It was part of her manners not to pry. Of course, that didn't mean it would never come up. Maybe eventually it would, but for now, it had stayed hidden.
Blaine's face turned into a smile as Astoria's voice filled his ears. It was absolutely beautiful. Despite the fact that they were merely best friends, he would admit that he had a bit of a crush on her. They were, indeed, perfect for one another. As younger children, he had just seen it that they would be good companions. They would be best friends, and that would be it. But as they hit their 7th year, Blaine found himself imagining doing so much more with her than just kisses on the hand and spending the days talking. He imagined taking her somewhere romantic and kissing her beneath the stars. He imagined sharing something with her that was special and something only two people in love shared, though he had shared that with other girls before. Call it puberty, call it desperation for the perfect woman, call it whatever you wish. None of his past soirees had ever meant anything to him. No girl he had been with had ever been as perfect for him as his best friend was. He had just yet to make a move out of fear of ruining their friendship.
He merely chucked at her comment about the other boys wanting to date her. "Perhaps you misunderstand my motives. I do intend to prove to you that there is none other in the world like myself. It is why you and I have been so close for all these years." He said, with a smile, keeping her hand in his own, preparing to lead her through the house. "First, we're going to settle ourselves to some lunch. I do hope you came hungry, Astoria." He said, a smile on his face as he released her hand and offered his arm for her to wrap her hand into so he could lead her into the dining room.
The color scheme of his house was a lot of dark colors with white gold trimmings. No one in his family had ever enjoyed the color gold, and it made him happy that he didn't have to stare at the putrid color on a regular basis. They passed down the hallway towards the dining room and he turned his head to her. "Seeing as how I've asked you here for the day, I have both lunch and dinner planned for us today. Lunch will be in the dining room, though dinner is a surprise." He said, a nod to her as he opened the door to the dining room.
He led her to a chair, pulled it out for her and took her hand as she took a seat. He pushed her seat in a bit closer to the table and took a seat next to her, at the head of the table. That way, he wasn't directly next to her, but he was beside her and could see her face. Before he could say another word, one of his house-elves appeared with two plates of Cognac Shrimp with Beurre Blanc Sauce. "I do hope you enjoy. This is one of my favorite dishes and I was hoping you would enjoy it, as well." He said, smiling to her as he looked up and saw the house-elf pouring two glasses of chilled white wine. He thanked the house-elf as it disappeared and grabbed his own glass, holding it up in a toast sort of way. "To lunch with a beautiful woman." He said, with a smile, before taking a sip of his wine and then starting to eat his meal. status; complete outfit; click here, duh!tags; dodi/astoria !notes; (:

Truth be told, Astoria found it a little hurtful the way Blaine mock-flirted with her. When it had first started in their youth, she had been affronted, embarrassed, and flattered all the same. Eventually she had gotten used to it, and now they quipped back and forth like pros—this, of course, did not help the rumor mill at school. On one hand, it was nice to have someone constantly spewing compliments at her; these things do tend to help a girl’s ego. But as her crush developed it became more of a constant reminder that the chances of their joking passion for each other would never develop into the real thing. Still, Astoria continued to play along and flirt back, just happy to have the attention of her best friend. It didn’t bother her enough to affect either of them, but was more one of those things that she thought about while waiting to fall asleep, with an uncharacteristic frown on her porcelain features. It was one of those situations that were nearly unavoidable. After all; Blaine was unabashedly charming and impossibly handsome. Astoria was certain that most girls in their year were half in love with him; he was one of the few attractive boys that actually had that magical combination of intelligence and a gentlemanly nature. She often had to remind herself that he most likely did not feel the same. Astoria was terrified of the day that Blaine would find a girl he liked, and Astoria wouldn’t be able to deny the feelings that had developed—surely her jealousy would insure that. Astoria narrowed her eyes, which had a characteristically mischievous glint in them. Blaine was one of the very, very few people who brought out her wicked, playful streak. ”Are you attempting to inform me that all through our friendship, you have been plotting to win me over, Blaine? I cannot believe that you would make me wait so long to hear those words! So many a night I have gone to sleep wishing that you, in all your perfection, would admit your undying love for little old me! But what is a lady to do, when the man of her dreams is destined forever to be no more than a friend!” Astoria brought the back of her hand to her forehead dramatically, as if she was close to swooning. Grinning, she slipped hand around his arm, feeling the strong muscles underneath the thin fabric of his shirt. ”My, Blaine, someone sure has been keeping in shape this summer! Who are you trying to impress, my dear?” Giving a quick nod Astoria continued, ”Of course I am hungry; I have been with little girls all morning, you know how they drain my energy. I do love each one of those darling things, but really I never remember having that much energy as a child. Perhaps I was always just more reserved…” Astoria quirked an eyebrow at her friend, glancing sideways, ”A surprise, you say? Oh, are you truly going to make me wait hours in anticipation? You know that I am terrible with surprises—I loathed not knowing when I want to know.” The young woman could barely tolerate being kept in suspense; growing up horribly spoiled by her family had made her rather impatient to get what she wanted (or at least know what she was getting). As they crossed the threshold into the dining room, Astoria cried out with a pout, ”Surely you aren’t going to keep me in miserable curiosity all day long!Sitting down, Astoria thanked Blaine for helping her to her seat. She could smell the food and had to hold back from wiggling with excitement—she was ravenous and it smelled amazing. Her eyes widened at the dish presented to her; it looked just as great as it had smelled. Astoria grinned up at Blaine, ”Blaine, this looks incredible! You always have the greatest dishes when I visit…” Grinning impishly, Astoria raised her glass as well, ”To lunch with handsome gentlemen! Tchin-tchin!” She took a sip of the wine, mentally reminding herself to drink no more than this glass. She never took alcohol well, but loved the way it went perfectly with some meals. Never once had Astoria been even the least bit tipsy; she was honestly terrified of being drunk, though she’d never mentioned the fear to anyone. The idea that she would be even a bit out of control for a moment was very much outside of the brunette’s level of comfort. Looking down at her plate, Astoria fluffed her napkin into her lap, and daintily picked up her fork. Taking a small bite, the girl closed her eyes and hummed happily, chewing slowly and relishing in the mix of flavors exploding in her mouth. A small smile graced her rosy lips—Astoria was one of the best people to give a well made meal; few people appreciate great food as much as she did. Opening her eyes, the young woman exclaimed, ”This is wonderful, Blaine! Absolutely incredible!” She took a few more bites in comfortable silence, then took some more wine before adding, ”So, dear friend, tell me all about how you have been as of late. It is so strange to go even one day without speaking to you, I feel as though I have been missing out.”word count:: 893 tags:: Amanda/Blaine :D outfit:: here!notes:: sorry if I rambled a tad lol

Their playful banter back and forth was joyful, to say the very least, but there were moments Blaine wished it was more than just banter. Their flirting almost seemed unfair, in a way. Sure, he tended to be extremely genuine in his words, but Astoria had been the one girl to never fall for his charm. At least, she had always seemed to take it as joking and friendly, so he had always played it off as such. He would never admit that he was simply being rejected on a regular basis, but as long as she stuck around he didn't really mind. Though, albeit a secret, he would be jealous as hell of anyone who even remotely got her attention besides him. He wasn't genuinely a jealous person, but when it came to Astoria, he felt as if he was the type of man she needed, and anyone else just would not add up to the man she would want.
People wondered why they had never gotten together, and Blaine had honestly wondered the same. There wasn't really an excuse for it other than the fact that they just weren't together. They hung out all the time at school, and they had random best friend dates very much like today. It was natural for the common eye to whisper rumors of a secret relationship. If only they were true, Blaine would be a very happy 17 year old. Blaine's eyes lit up when she responded to his comment with the comment of making her wait for so long. For the first time in a long time, he let himself believe that maybe there was really hope for him when it came to this beautiful girl. However, instead of showing how he felt, he kept his emotions on lock and merely smiled. "Always the one for dramatics, Astoria." He said, with a smile towards her.
He turned his ice blue eyes to her when she mentioned his muscles. "I don't feel as if my muscle tone will impress anyone. I tend to impress a certain someone with the large Quidditch trophy I've lead my team to win at the end of this year. You did hear that I was made Quidditch captain, correct?" He asked, hoping she had heard. He hadn't been made Head Boy, though his fellow prefects had assumed he would. When it came down to it, he had preferred the Quidditch captain title to the Head Boy one and had turned the offer down. He couldn't handle both, and after all, he planned on playing Quidditch the rest of his life. It's not like being Head Boy would get him as good of connections in the Quidditch world as being a Quidditch captain who led their team to the Quidditch Cup.
As they walked, she discussed the younger girls she worked with and he merely smiled. He had almost forgotten that she actually had to teach some of the etiquette classes back at her home. Of course she was thankful to get away. He grinned cheekily as she basically begged him to tell her what the surprise was. "There's no use in me telling you, my darling. I am afraid you are going to have to wait." He said, hoping that the thought of a surprise wouldn't eat away at her like she seemed to claim it would do.
They took their seats, did their toasts, and were eating. She seemed to enjoy the meal and he had merely smiled, taking bites of his own dinner. He swallowed a bite he had taken as she asked him a question. He lifted his napkin to his lips, patting them of any particle that could have spilled from his mouth (though, definitely didn't)... he knew how to eat without being messy. He wasn't a neanderthal. His lips curved up into a smile. "I have been well, though this summer has been a bit lonely for me. Dad's away traveling and my little sister has been traveling from one friend's house to another all summer. She's 14 now, did you know?" He took a sip of his wine, before a house-elf showed up with a glass of ice water for the two of them. He hadn't expected either of them to drink more than one glass, at least at lunch. Maybe at dinner, but who knew? "But enough about me... how have you been?" He asked, finishing off his food and pulling his napkin from his lap, setting it on the table. status; complete outfit; click here, duh!tags; dodi/astoria !notes; (:

Astoria felt her heart jump to her throat as Blaine talked about impressing a ‘certain someone.’ She was certain he couldn’t possibly be talking about her, so did he indeed have a crush on someone else? It was something they rarely talked about. Even when Astoria had been asked out by the few interested boys in school—always ending after a few dates and dispassionate kisses—she had kept it to herself. Obviously Blaine had known it was going on; word moved quickly at Hogwarts. But she actively chose not to talk about it. She liked to think, in fact, that it was one of very, very few subjects that the pair did not feel comfortable discussing. So surely now, after all this time, he wasn’t telling her about some other girl? Surely, she reassured herself, that it was just a continuation of his jesting. ”Of course I’ve heard! Surely you know that every girl between the ages of twelve and seventeen can talk of nothing else this summer… I am unsurprised—I cannot imagine anyone being more qualified for the position than yourself.” Astoria responded, giving Blaine’s arm a reassuring squeeze and smiling warmly up at her friend. He probably had no need for the confidence boost, but Astoria couldn’t really help it. She loved making other people happy, and she wanted Blaine to know how much faith she had in him. Pouting, Astoria resigned herself to not knowing what was coming later that evening. Looking over at Blaine through her long lashes, the young woman sighed, ”Well, you don’t have to be so smug about it… must you always tease me, my dear?” The question might have been in jest, but it was rang a bit too close to home to sound truly mocking. Finding herself a bit embarrassed, Astoria focused on the food in front of her. She felt like more and more lately she had been unable to keep her emotions in check—they had never gotten the best of her before and it was incredibly unsettling to the brunette to find herself saying things without thinking. If she wasn’t careful, Blaine would realize how she felt about him, and their relationship would become horribly uncomfortable. Giving herself a quick, stern mental talking to, Astoria looked up and focused her attention on what Blaine was saying. She frowned, her eyebrows snapping together in displeasure at his retelling of his summer. How could she have not known that he had been mostly alone? Of course, she had been busy with classes, but that was hardly an excuse. ”Blaine, sweetie, you’ve been staying this summer? Why didn’t you tell me? I have been a horrid friend… I should have visited sooner.”She was relieved, at least, that it had only been a few weeks since coming home from Hogwarts. ”Any time you want someone around, owl me. You know I’ll come right over.” Smiling, Astoria continued, ”Gosh, fourteen. I feel like she’s getting older much faster than she should be, but isn’t that how it always is? Well, it is good that she’s enjoying her summer; she is at that perfect age where responsibility hasn’t settled in yet but you are old enough to really be getting close to the friends you’ve grown up with.” Astoria was quiet for a moment, thinking of what there was to be said about her summer. Most of it was not worth sharing; there was only so much that could be said about teaching little girls ballet and manners. Tipping her head to the side, Astoria responded, ”I have been enjoying myself. You know how I do love spending quality time with my family. Daphne has been especially busy this year; she’s become rather good friends with a group in France and has been back and forth between there and home. But it has been nice to see her when she is around in the very least. Classes keep me busy in the morning, and I have been spending my afternoons either reading or dancing. It’s not particularly exciting, I know, but I haven’t gotten bored of it yet. It’s a nice change from school, where I feel like I do not have enough free time to do those sorts of things.” Astoria finished her meal as well, thanking the house elf politely for the class of water. Taking a sip, the young woman mulled over what she was going to say next. Tipping her head to the side, she continued, ”There was a small break from the routine—I did go to dinner with your friend Mister Malfoy the other night. It was entirely unplanned and did not go as well as I would have hoped. I would like to be his friend but I feel we might be too different to get along well.” Realizing she might have said too much to be polite, Astoria blushed and added, ”Please don’t mention I said anything, I know that you two get along well but I would rather just put it in the past!”word count:: 842 tags:: Amanda/Blaine outfit:: here!notes:: ;D
