It had been a long month for Ron Weasley. Their last fight brought them to shambles, and Ron was a wreck from it. Not only did he see her every other day, since they shared the same flat still since neither was willing to move out, but there were rumours that she was seeing someone else. Ron thought it was just a break, they there were taking some time and then, as always, they would get back together. Because there was no denying that he saw his future with Hermione, but apparently she didn't see that sort of future anymore. And Ron was serious affected by it.
He couldn't really remember what their fight was about, but he was sure it had something along the lines of Harry and Ginny's wedding. It wasn't like Ron didn't want to marry Hermione, because he absolutely did. He just had this sort of check list you see. Sure, they had a apartment together, but he wanted to be able to offer her a real salary, becoming a real Auror in a few months time would get him that, and to be able to afford their first home. There was no way he was carrying Hermione over the threshold of their apartment (because he was definitely traditional like that), he wanted to get them a nice home. That's what he expected to have before he married her. Harry and Ginny, they wouldn't have that problem.
So why was Ron in Ireland you ask? Not only was Ron throwing himself into work to get that promotion he desperately needed, but to avoid Hermione at all costs. He had taken the job of hunting down a low-graded danger in Ireland because one of the higher ups had asked all the in-training Aurors who wanted it. In hopes of getting recognized, Ron had jumped to the chance. It was a pretty lame afternoon, he followed the guy around from place to place to see if he was doing anything illegal and he didn't until he robbed some women's person. Ron had chased after him and pinned him down, giving the purse back to the girl before bringing him down to the local police station. Apparently he had lost his wand, so he was pretty useless now.
Useless was a key factor here. Ron felt just like that as he entered a pub called the Happy Pig. For some reason it sounded familiar to him, like he had heard it back in the day, when he was still at school. He didn't really care, all he was interested in right now was getting piss loaded like he did sometimes when he was particularly feeling down. Like today, because he hadn't heard or seen anything from Hermione in over three days. He waited at the barstool, checking his pockets for Muggle money before the bartender came up. He rather stay in Ireland, far enough away from England, just for a little while longer.
