--- BRAVE ;; like many of the others sorted into gryffindor house, katie always believed that you had to have bravery among your personality traits to be sorted into such a bold house. and to a point, this was true. she was among the first to sign up for the slots on the gryffindor quidditch team, and one of the first to volunteer to fly, though her only prior experience came from her classes as a first year. but this bravery seemed to be a weakness as well, since it was katie who was to remain in a safer area of the castle during the battle and be a guard. but, against the instruction of another order member, she rushed into the great hall among the fighting, where she witnessed the death of a dear friend as punishment.
--- GENTLE ;; for someone who was one rather aggressive and brutal on the quidditch field, katie thought that she was tough enough to handle anything that life threw her way. but since the death of fred and the others at the battle of hogwarts, katie has almost completely abandoned her wizarding roots. in her mind, what good is it to be a witch with a powerful wand in your hand if you cannot save those you love from meeting a cruel, untimely end? since then, she has taken to working at a local library, near her place in london...but never acknowleging her ability to use magic.
--- ISOLATED ;; time has certainly changed katie bell from the woman she used to be. ever since seeing fred weasley die, she has stored her wand away from sight and mind, living her life like an ordinary muggle. and in doing so, she has cut off most communications with people from her hogwarts days, even angelina and the others. only if they were lucky enough to hunt her down would she sit and allow them to speak to her, but due to the nightmares that constantly plague her mind each night as she tries to sleep, she tends not to even remember her hogwarts days...on purpose.

born on october thirteenth in the year ninteen seventy-eight, katie was the only child born to her parents, marissa and patrick bell. she grew up as any normal muggle child would, with everything that she could ever want and the love and attention of her parents besides. for many years she would spend her time playing outdoors with the local children that she had befriended, never dreaming that one day everything might change for her. and then, one day when she was nine and playing in the park, one of the boys began to push her around and call her names. as katie's anger grew, a garbage can that was sitting nearby exploded and showered the children in rotten garbage. afraid of what had happened, katie fled back to the house and hid away from everyone, refusing to tell her parents what had happened. slowly, she began to live her life normally again, until one day, when she was just about to turn eleven, she was visited by a man by the name of albus dumbledore.
it was then that katie learned the truth of what had happened all those times before, when something strange and unexpected had happened because of her getting angry for scared. that september, with her new things in hand, katie boarded the hogwarts express bound for hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. it was an entirely new adventure, and frankly one that she did not want. but once there, the first people to speak to her at all were fred and george weasley, who joined her at the gryffindor table in the great hall. the following year, when she tried out for the quidditch team, she bonded rather closely with angelina johnson and alicia spinnet, both girls who were trying out as well. to katie's delight, fred and george were listed as the team beaters, and she, alongside angelina and alicia, became the chasers. that was the year that they were joined by the famous harry potter...
the rest of her hogwarts years were relatively uneventful until she reached her sixth year. that was when umbridge made her entrance from the ministry of magic, parading herself around as if she were the overlord of the world. needless to say this did not go over well with many of the students at hogwarts, though it wasn't until hermione gathered them all together that katie became a part of a secret organization called dumbledore's army. together, she and about twenty others would gather in the room of requirement on the seventh floor and practise magic spells taught to them by harry potter. it was here that she learned to master the use of a patronus, which took the shape of a peregrine falcon thanks to her love for flying, the first place katie had really been that had made her feel like she belonged. and although they were discovered, she continued to practise her skills afterward.
her seventh year was by far the most interesting one that she spent at hogwarts, for that was the year that she had been out to hogsmeade with her friend leanne....and she was cursed. while making a trip to the loo, an already cursed madame rosemerta passed the hex along to katie, who then left with a brown package in her hands. on her way back up to the castle, her skin brushed against the object inside, which cursed her body so terribly that she missed more then half of the school year in st. mungo's hospital. she could remember nothing of what had actually happened, knowing only the account given to her by others after she had returned to the school, and to this day, she still doesn't remember a thing.
with her school years behind her, there was only one more thing for katie to do. run. following the return of the dark lord, katie had been forced into hiding thanks to her muggleborn status, watching her parents killed before her eyes by deatheaters demanding information. she barely escaped with her life, in time to fight in the second battle of hogwarts. and while she made it out of there as well, she witnessed the death of fred weasley, a dear friend she had always held close to her heart. and although angelina and fred had dated a while before, she knew that she would forever have a place for him in her heart that could never be filled by another person. she told him nothing of how she felt, which she regrets to this day. now, emotionally scarred and hating herself for not being able to save him, katie withdrew from the wizarding world, living as a muggle music teacher as she cut off all ties with the people from her old life.
as far as she is concerned, that katie bell never existed.
some of the guilt seemed to vanish a little bit as she realized that it had been enzo that had fallen over her crouched body, watching as he ignored her offer for help and simply rose to his feet on his own accord. some of the others had come to warn her about the ways in which their italian co-worker operated when it came to the women that he associated with, and although she had no direct knowledge or any reason to hate him, she was wary at the very least. evangeline wasn't an overly trusting person, but unless someone proved early on that they were not worthy of her time and trust, she liked to think that she gave everyone a fair shot, and that included enzo. what did she know of him? that he was a few years older then herself and a host at the very same restaurant. besides that and the fact that he was from italy, evie knew precious little about him. and truth be told, she didn't think she had any real desire to get to know him anymore then that.
fesso? evie might have known a decent amount of the french language, but she had never studied any of the other romance languages, which left her totally clueless when it came to what he had just said. was he calling her something? or was he referring to the broken glass that was in his hand? short of asking him, she really had no way of knowing, and she had no time for a lesson in foreign tongues. already she could feel the eyes of their supervisor burning into the back of her skull, prompting the girl to kneel back down on the floor and begin to gather up the broken shards of glass that she could still see. that area would have to be vaccumed majorly well that night, but that wouldn't occur until the last of the customers had left the building and she was finally able to turn that damn sign around. then the real clean up would begin.
"cleaning up a stain on the carpet," she said lowly, not wishing for anyone else to overhear. "we had another arguing couple in here tonight and the girlfriend couldn't leave without throwing her red wine in her boyfriend's face."
again she found herself mentally cursing the carpet as she picked up the shards carefully, finding that between the stains they clung to and the way they allowed the clear pieces of glass to disappear was rather urksome. there was a better chance of her catching a piece on the edge of her finger and slicing the skin open then there was for her to actually manage to pick up a majority of the pieces, and since she'd already helped to open up enzo's hand, she figured that he would be rather reluctant to get down on his hands and knees to help her out. and of course, of the other people still standing around in the restaurant that night, the only person who would have been willing to help her was the person who was now busily covering her table, picking up the newly abandoned dishes and transporting them to the kitchen window. she owed kaitlyn a lot for doing that, especially since it wasn't her table to cover.
the sharp edge of a piece of glass connected with her skin, prompting evie to pull her hand away quickly. it wasn't deep enough to cut through her skin thankfully, therefore not adding any further mess to the carpet that night, but it had surprised her and caused her body to react with shock. there was that odd tingle down her spine as she recovered, a sensation that she had felt numerous times over when she had thought that she was going to drop a tray of food or slip on a wet patch in the kitchens. luckily for her, she'd managed to fall and create a mess only once, and the kitchen staff had been more then willing to help clean her up and remake all of the food that she had dropped....which had been quite an amount. her boss hadn't been happy, but then again she was sure that nobody in the history of the shooting star had ever seen debra smile.
her dark eyes flickered upward, watching as he pulled the smaller pieces from his hand. it didn't look too bad, but from the angle that she was currently at, evie had no real way of knowing what kind of damage she had inflicted upon his hand from her stupid move. she should have known that someone would have wandered by. move the table, get fully underneath it...something, anything to prevent accidents like that. and inwardly, she groaned. that was going to require some more paperwork on her part.
"are you sure you're alright?" she asked, sitting back on her knees. "it looks like you managed to do a pretty good job on that hand of yours."
