--- HUMOROUS ;; Although considered to be a somewhat serious person, Damien Hollywater has his moments of humor. He enjoys scaring people, telling them stories of magical beasts that will lure them into bogs and nibble off their toes, and things of the like. Aside from things he personally finds funny, Damien is not a stranger to a joke or two, be it if he is telling one to a gaggle of his friends (those he is most comfortable joking around with) or if he’s setting up a harmless prank. Once even, while he was in school, he cast a twitchy ear hex on every Slytherin girl in his year, resulting in much laughter from the male population and many pops on the back of the head from the female portion.
--- IMPRESSIVE ;; Sometimes a bit full of himself, Damien has spouted off time and time again that he is an “impressive specimen” of the wizarding world. Possibly this trait should be considered “boastful” instead. What he means, of course, is that he has an exceptional talent or two. Having taken to Potions quite well at young age, Damien spent most of his time at Hogwarts fine tuning his skill and was quick to outshine anyone who thought they could do better than him (and if he didn’t, he’d be in a foul mood for weeks after). But being an impressive specimen goes far beyond just talents. Damien considers his pureblood line and good looks to both be impressive, although respectively. Most easily put, the young man believes he is a “catch” and that no one could do “better than him.” He has been taken down a few pegs from his youth (when he was much more apt to rattle off that he was the best of the best) by his friends.
--- UNFILTERED ;; Being one of those people who doesn’t have a filter has gotten Damien in trouble a few times. If there is something on his mind, be it bad or good, he will most likely say it and say it directly to those people of which it concerns. There have even been a few times throughout his life where Damien made girls cry with his comments. It’s not as though he directly means to upset people, he just can’t keep a cap on his mouth. In his youth he was an entirely rotten child, mostly due to the fact that he thought he was the best of the best. Although he has mellowed out some, with Damien what you see (and hear) is what you get.

Arabella Crass and Henry Hollywater first met when Arabella was in her third year. It was always supposed that the two, although Henry was older than her (him being in his fifth year when she was in her third), would have met despite being placed in different houses, or even if they had gone to different schools. Hufflepuff and Slytherin were to play against one another that afternoon and Arabella had even painted her face yellow and black before finding her way down to the Quidditch pitch where she bumped into Henry who was blasting a swarm of feeding lacewig flies he and a friend had walked into. Although he was rooting for Slytherin that day, he complimented her face paint and went on his way. From that day forward they became friends. It wasn’t until nearly a year after Arabella had finished her seventh year that the two got married and Arabella became pregnant with her first son, Damien.
Young Damien grew up in a house that was no stranger to magic and from a very young age took to mocking his mother and father as they recited different incantations and flicked and swished their wands. It was quite possible that Damien’s very first word was “accio” in an attempt to get the things he wanted without help from either of his parents. He tried to do a lot of things on his own as a young child, especially while his parents found themselves in a bit of trouble. It was quite clear to anyone who took the time to know the Hollywaters that Henry had become involved in some unsavory activities during his son’s youth. He opened a shop somewhere in Knockturn Alley that sold poisons, supposedly for “magical pests.” Though, after only a brief stint of success it was closed when Henry Hollywater was accused of using the Imperius Curse on innocent witches and wizards to get them to come to his shop. Acquitted from his crime, as he had not actually done such a thing, Henry couldn’t reopen his shop with the bad reputation he had earned because of the trial. He was later employed as a columnist for The Daily Prophet, using a pseudonym.
As expected, when Damien turned eleven (prior to this being schooled in the “general knowledge” area by his mother) he started at Hogwarts. The Sorting Hat debated over him for awhile, not sure if he should be put in Hufflepuff or Slytherin, as he held enough traits from both of his parents that he would fit quite well in either house but the final decision was that he would be best suited for Slytherin, like his father. It was when he was sorted into his house that he met a gaggle of young people who would become significant in his life, whose sides he would stick by even after his time at Hogwarts ended. They helped reign in the strong minded, quick tongued youth that was Damien Hollywater (unless whatever he was saying or doing benefited them in some way), not wanting him to come off as a complete asshole. Like his father (who mixed his own “magical pest” poisons), Damien had discovered an affinity for Potions. His first real success was a serum of sorts that rendered the drinker to say no more than insults for a full half hour. He only got to use it once before he was found out and the rest of his potion was confiscated from him. He could have easily made another batch but instead chose to move on, as he was young and getting into trouble was something he could do without the use of potions.
Damien graduated from Hogwarts and spent the next month or two afterwards traveling. His initial plan was to return and work for the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures (as his other affinity happened to be for magical beasts) but he caught wind of the Dark Lord’s return and came home to check in on his family. Several Death Eaters had tried to convince Henry Hollywater to join them (something he just might have done, Damien suspected, if it hadn’t been for his mother) and they’d gone into hiding for a period of time. Luckily Damien was able to find them with some help from family friends. He stayed with them until after the Battle of Hogwarts (something none of them had taken part in, but were informed of after it took place) and helped them move back into their proper home. Choosing to stay in their hiding spot (Arabella’s mother’s home -- Mirena Crass and her husband Albert had died several years prior to Damien’s Hogwarts graduation and their home was supposed to go to their only daughter, but it wasn’t quite as impressive as the home she had built with Henry), Damien found a temporary job at Madam Primpernelle’s Beautifying Potions, concocting beauty potions for both the beautiful and terrifyingly ugly beings that made up the wizarding community.
